Whew

We have been blessed to have one of our great granddaughters with us for three days, but within those three days we began to have some problems. My husband who is a teddy bear, and I am more of a perfectionist found ourselves handling discipline with me as the grouchy one. I saw myself as a person that did not give tolerance when it would have been the lesser of two evils. My husband on the other hand was too tolerant, and pretty soon we found ourselves being controlled by a six year old. Before we realized what had happened the trap was sprung, and we walked the tight rope. Instead of enjoying those three days we could hardly wait until it was time to take her home. Our question that we are wrestling with now is "what happened"? As youngsters we learned to respect our elders and to obey laws set within our home. In this situation we found ourselves obeying her tantrums and trying to make her happy. The word sorry was a constant theme from us, while the little monster did her own thing. We kept saying to ourselves, "she has had a pretty bad life, and we at least will show her love". Well, the little love we shared with her went unknown, and we left her mothers feeling like we had been bamboozled and frazzled. We assured her that she could come back in a couple of weeks and now think we might have been too hasty in this decision. But, we do not want her to think we lie, so are going to talk to a lot of people on what to do. Plus spend a great deal of time in prayer.
